Music mogul and animal activist Russell Simmons has given his endorsement to Bold Native – a narrative film about the underground Animal Liberation Front. Earlier this summer, Ecorazzi reported that Simmons was planning to attend the premiere in New York City, and although we couldn’t make it, we heard it was a huge success! Luckily, a slew of cameras were around to record the event, and Sparrow Media recently released a compilation video of Russell Simmons in action. In the video, Russell talks about his choice to go vegan, saying: “You know the greatest cause of global warming by almost twice as much as all forms of transportation put together? Cows. Farting. You know that, right? It’s the UN report. And you know that the greatest cause of cancer, and you know that the worst karmic thing we can do is have those 9 billion suffering farm animals as human beings. So with all those things, with all that weight, I don’t want to carry it….It’s a no win situation. I want to be one of the people that have a big enough voice, and use my voice to make a change.” Check out the video below to watch more of what Russell has to say. This guy is pretty great!
Over on one of our favorite sites FunnyOrDie.com , famous humanitarian actor Sean Penn appeared on an episode of Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis to discuss Haiti…well kinda. If you haven’t yet seen the brilliant series, Between Two Ferns is an unscripted public access style show where Galifianakis asks today’s big celebrities inappropriate questions and basically just makes everyone feel uncomfortable. In short, it’s hysterical. On the most recent episode, Sean Penn was asked to talk about his work in Haiti. The exchange went something like this: Galifanakis: I’m real interested in the work you’ve been doing down in Haiti. Tell us a little about that? Penn: Well, after the… Galifanakis: Is there a Six Flags down there? Penn: There’s not. No. Galifanakis: OK, we can move on. Although Zach may not have let Penn speak, the actor has done much to help rebuild Haiti. In an article on The Huffington Post , Sean writes, “I and those I work with have operated 24-7 throughout the city of Port Au Prince and the country at large for all these months, distributing thousands of water filters, food, medicine, medical supplies and volunteers throughout the days and nights from the back of pick-up trucks and helicopters. We have directly been responsible for hiring and supervising rubble removal crews, heavy equipment, and coordinating multiple NGO actions from Cash for Work and food/water distribution.” Check out the video below to watch Penn get silenced by a very funny Galifianakis. Totally worth it! Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis: Sean Penn from Between Two Ferns

Unlike LIFE or Planet Earth that seemed to censor much of the violent parts of the wild kingdom, migrations is putting it all out there. Even in this trailer, there are a few moments that aren’t easy to watch. Narrator Alec Baldwin has yet to make his voice known in any of these trailers, but we’re pretty confident he’ll get the job done in setting the right tone this Fall. Check out the trailer below: (And oh yea, NatGeo — you hype this program about being shot in HD this and that, but then release a trailer online in sub-par quality. Even Youtube has HD options. It’s 2010. Give us something decent to show off.)

Check out the trailer below: (And oh yea, NatGeo — you hype this program about being shot in HD this and that, but then release a trailer online in sub-par quality. Even Youtube has HD options. It’s 2010. Give us something decent to show off.)
